Let’s talk Silk Lash Extensions.

First things first, what are silk extensions? Silk extensions are not actually made from silk, they are also known as synthetic lashes. They are the cheapest option but tend to be heavier as they are not as light weight as faux mink or mink extension. They are great for achieving a full dramatic look as they are thicker than faux mink or mink extensions. Therefore, you should not use silk / synthetic extensions on anyone who has weak, damaged or thin natural eyelashes as the weight can cause them to not only fall out prematurely but also can damage the real eyelashes. However, if your client has thick and healthy eyelashes these will work great.  Silk or synthetic extensions are also vegan friendly.

Faux Mink Lash Extensions.

These are exactly as it sounds, these are synthetic extensions that mimic the qualities of real mink extensions without the actually being mink. They are light weight, fluffy and mimic your client’s real eyelashes. These are more expensive than silk or synthetic extensions but cheaper than real mink extensions. What is great about faux mink extensions is they are lightweight which makes them perfect for even those who have damaged, thin or weak natural eyelashes. These are also vegan.

Mink Lash Extensions.

These lashes are made from mink fur so they are super lightweight, fluffy and mimic your client’s natural eyelashes really well. These are also the most expensive eyelash extensions due to their great qualities.

The Big Question…

Which is best? The answer is based on what kind of looks your clients want to achieve, plus the price range you want to set for your eyelash extensions. The silk / synthetic extensions are cheap, create full dramatic sets but are heavier than both faux mink and mink extensions. Faux mink extensions are more expensive than silk / synthetic extensions but are cheaper than mink but create a very similar look to real mink. Mink extensions are the most expensive but are the most long lasting, realistic and luxury option of them all. Many lash technicians like to offer all three types, however if you are going for an all vegan vibe we recommend you stick to the silk / synthetic or faux mink extensions.
