Top 8 Beauty Hacks for Younger-Looking Eyes
Aging or Tired Eyes?
Whether your eyes are looking older from age or from tired puffy eyes we have put together our top 7 beauty hacks for younger looking eyes! A lot of us suffer from dark circles or puffy eyes making us look tired and worn out but there more to solving this than simply lathering on thick layers of eye cream and concealer.
1. Coconut Oil
Yes, coconut oil can be used for many different things from cooking, to hair masks to removing your makeup but did you know coconut oil can work wonders for tried and dry skin round your eyes? You can use it to remove waterproof makeup, use as an eye cream before bed and as a moisturiser! When applying coconut oil as a treatment, apply it before bed to get the best results. By applying it before bed, you have all night for the coconut oil to sink in and moisturise your eyes. You will wake up with your eye area feeling revived.
2. DIY De-Puffing Treatment
It’s always great to be able to make your own DIY treatments, but it’s even better when you find out you can create it from what you already have at home! Not only does it save you some coin from the expensive treatments on the market, but it also is super convenient! To make the treatment you will need a cotton pad or ball and some full fat milk (blue top). Adding the milk to the cotton pad / ball and applying it to your eye area will help smooth and moisturise. This works because the full fat milk contains fat and lactic acid which treats dry skin as well as the coolness from the milk soothing your skin!
Vegan or prefer not to use milk? Why not try green tea? To do this, you need to brew the green tea and pour it into an ice cube tray. Give this time to freeze, once frozen wrap the green tea ice cubes in a piece of kitchen / paper towel and gently rub around your eye area. This will brighten up your eye area and help eliminate puffy eyes.
Want a quick fix? Pop a metal spoon into the freezer and leave to cool, hold the spoon around your eyes to help with puffy eyes or dark circles!
3.Prime… Below the Eyes
A game changer, primer helps to keep your eyeshadow and eyeliner in place. Why not apply some eye primer under your eyes? This will help your concealer stay in place whilst also preventing your mascara from smudging. You should also invest in an eye primer that helps to moisturise your skin at the same time.
4. Layer Your Concealer
Okay, so we have all been there with concealer but it’s not just about layering it. Select a concealer than has a more pink / red undertone rather than one that ‘brightens’ your under eyes, you can use that after your foundation. Apply the pink / red concealer to your dark circles and blend, keep applying until you’re happy with the coverage. You could also use a concealer with a yellow undertone. Apply your regular foundation and apply a light concealer on top to brighten your under eye. Finish by setting the concealer in place!
5. Highlight with Concealer
We recommend you switch from highlighting under your brow bone with a highlighter to highlighting using a lighter concealer. This is because highlighter can enhance any fine lines whilst concealer does the opposite but still highlights your brow bone! It was also look more natural but if you can’t resist using highlighter then apply concealer then the highlighter on top.
6. Skip the Harsh Liner
Hash eyeliner can make your eyes appear smaller and sometimes make us look older in not the best ways. Switch from liquid or eyeliner to a softer pencil or crayon eyeliner, this will make the world of a difference we promise! If you still want to wear dark eyeliner then still apply it as normal but smudge it out slightly. You could also use a brown eyeliner which will really bring out your eyes without over powering them! Try to avoid applying harsh dark liner to your bottom waterline if you’re going for a more natural look.
7. Swap White for Nude or Beige Eyeliner
White eyeliner in your waterline can do a great job at opening those eyes, however if you’re wanting a more natural look and to give the appearance your eyes are naturally wide then a nude or beige liner will do just the trick! Apply the nude or beige eyeliner to your upper and lower waterline and apply some mascara and your favourite pair of falsies for that wide awake look.
