Qualities to Look for in Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash Extensions
When it comes to eyelash extensions, it is very important to select the right products that suit the way you lash and are of high quality. Never try to save the pennies by lowering the quality of the eyelash extensions, adhesives and tools as this will impact the wear and appearance of them and you and your clients will notice! By selecting high quality eyelash extensions, this lead to happy clients who will be loyal to you as a las technician and your business will boom!
What to look for in Eyelash Extensions:
Let’s Talk Quality:
In order for your eyelash extension business to flourish, it is essential to use only high quality extensions. High quality extensions will ensure they are long lasting, look realistic and light weight. Low quality extensions tend to be heavier and therefore can cause un-necessary damage to your client’s lashes. As a lash technician, the health of your client’s real lashes should come first.
Let’s Talk Quantity:
Look for fuller strips as this will give you the best value for money. You want your lash tray to last as long as possible as this means less money being spent on new lash trays.
Let’s Talk Curl:
There are two parts you need to be aware of, the appearance and the quality of the curl. It is always best to stock a variety of lash curls as not all clients are aiming for the same look. You should also keep in mind that different eye shapes will require different curls, for example, a client will hooded eyes should go for a more relaxed curl such as a B-curl rather than a D-curl. This is because a strong curl can cause irritation by touching the under brow area every time they blink. It is always great to mix different curls to achieve a unique look for each of your clients that suits the look they want to achieve and suits them. High quality eyelash extensions will hold their curl, whereas lower quality extensions will lose their curl much quicker. You will know eyelash extensions are very low quality if they lose their curl in the tray, trust us when we say they are extension you don’t even want if you was given them for free! Literally no one ever went to a salon to get long straight lashes so keep this in mind when you are thinking of switching to lower quality lashes because they are cheaper. Of course, your client should take good care and give their extensions a little TLC, but cheaper lower quality lashes will look a mess and be harder to look after which can really put your client off wearing extensions.
Let’s Talk Sheen:
Sheen is very important as your client’s want their extensions to look real no matter how natural or dramatic they like their extensions. When looking for eyelash extensions you should avoid any that are shiny and choose ones that are more matte or have very little sheen. Think of it this way, real eyelashes are not shiny and have more of a dull or matte appearance and you want the extensions to mimic this! Using shiny extensions will make the extensions look super fake and tacky they can even be uncomfortable to wear and your client will be wearing these for several weeks.
Let’s Talk Hue:
Pretty much everyone wants luscious dark lashes, however a few may want to opt for a more natural look such as a dark brown shade. You should look for extensions that are a natural looking dark brown shade or black as these are the most popular hue of eyelashes. The hue will vary depending on the brand of eyelash extension you use.
