There are so many eyelash artist out there based all around the world, whilst those in other cities, states and countries does not affect your business you will have competition in the area you work in. If you are not currently marketing your business, how do new clients find you? It is simply not enough for people to find you by seeing your salon as they pass by you need to market your business online! This is even more important if you are home based or based in a salon that is not easily seen. Marketing your eyelash extension business isn’t as hard you may think, you only need to market your service to the surrounding areas so once you have started marketing your business online, it can only go up from there! The best thing about social media is that most of your target market is on there, plus it is free for the most part! If you are not already marketing your business on social media, get on there and on as many platforms as you can! Try Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and even TikTok! When posting, be sure to tag your location so that people looking for a new lash tech can easily find you, use lots of relevant, high reach hashtags. Take photos of your client’s lashes at different angles, add before and after photos.
Here’s some tips and tricks for taking the perfect photos for social media:
- There is no need to have a special camera or fancy camera equipment, all you need is a smart phone with good camera quality. Once you have your form of camera sorted (your smart phone) it’s time to figure out the lighting.
- Lightingis very important when it comes to actually applying eyelash extensions so you will most likely have good lighting in your lashing area. However, if you feel the lighting showcasing your lashes well enough on camera there are a few things you can do. We highly recommend using a ring light for them Instagram perfect photos! The ring light can either be a small light that clips on to your phone or a large studio ring light, it is whatever you think works best for you.
- Photo poses and angles are key.It may be that you want to create a running theme throughout your photos by using certain poses or angles but this is not necessary. However, it is very important that you choose a pose and angle that shows off those gorgeous sets you have created. Your client can be laying down or standing up, what is important is you can get those shots! It is a great idea to take photos at various angles for example, front, side, below and above. You also need to decide whether you want to take full face photos, single eye shots and before and afters. We recommend using a mixture to really show of your skills, all great lash artist love to get close up shots of their work. This is because you are able to showcase how neat and precise you are and not all lash artist show these and it is a real money maker. This will beyond a doubt push you up above the others and bring in them new clients in no time. Before and after shots are the ones that bring in new clients who have never had their eyelash extensions done before. These shots show off just how much of a difference eyelash extensions make to your face and overall appearance.
- Videos. They are a fabulous way of really showing of those lashes, not only does it help show the extensions from different angles but it also gives a feel of what they look like in person. Based off research, we have found those who showcase their lashes using videos are chosen over those with just images.
Offer Mobile Service
Why not offer mobile services for special occasions such as proms, birthdays or weddings? For example, a bride may need several treatments and services such as eyelash extensions, nails and hair, it is much more confident for the bride to use a mobile service. This is also a great way to fill in any empty appointment slots which will boost your income. Mobile services is something that not all eyelash technicians offer, which will therefore without a doubt put you ahead of others in your area. You can either decide to offer a mobile service all year round, certain periods or even just for group bookings. You never know, they may turn into loyal clients!
Why Not Create a Referral Program?
Ask your existing client’s if they would like to join your referral program where they can get rewarded. Referral programs are great as new customers are looking for word of mouth feedback and recommendations and both you and the client benefit from it. For example, if your client refers a new client to you your existing client will get rewarded. The rewards can be discounts on treatments or cash back. For example, a reward could be 10% – 20% off their next infill. It is a win-win situation for both you and the client as you have gained an extra client and your existing client has been rewarded with a discount!
Try Building a Partnership
Partnerships are another great way to get your business out there. Why not collaborate with another salon in your area to promote your business? For example try building a partnership with a salon that offer other services such as a nail salon or one that offers brows and facials. You can create a discounted package deal where they can get their nails and eyelash extensions done for a discounted price. This is also a win-win situation for both businesses.
