The Most Flattering Lash Extensions to Get, According to Your Eye Shape

Eyelash Extensions

When deciding to get false eyelash extensions, it is important you keep in mind what kind of lashes suit and complement your eye shape. You wouldn’t wear clothes that didn’t complement your body or foundation that didn’t suit your skin tone, why should eyelashes be any different? In this guide we cover different eye shapes and what style of lashes suit them best and what you should ask for. If you are still not sure on what lashes to get after reading out guide, you should book a consultation with your chosen lash artist and they will be sure to help pick the best styles for you. Any good lash tech will carefully look at your natural lash shape and eye shape and decide what is best for rather than do the same style on you as the rest of their clients have!

What Are The Most Common Types of Eyelash Extensions?

Usually there are three different materials used in eyelash extensions; mink, silk and synthetic fibers. The sizes of lashes usually range from 6mm to 17mm in length. Depending on the salon you go to will depend of the choice you get. However, most salon give you the option of all three. If you are opting for lashes that will last the longest, by far mink lashes are in the lead. This is because they are super soft and mimic the appearance of your own eyelashes. The material is super durable and will last until you need an infill. Next comes the silk lashes, these are long lasting and are usually vegan since they are not actually usually made from real silk. And last but not least, synthetic lashes. These do last but not as long as the mink or silk lashes and do not mimic the real look of eyelashes as much. This is because synthetic eyelashes tend to have a high shine and can look glossy which makes them look much faker than the other materials. Some salons will offer other materials such as faux mink, human hair or horse hair but these are not as common.

Most salons also offer various different glues, this is because some people can be sensitive or allergic to some glues usually ones containing latex. It is always advised you carry out a patch test before applying any glue near your eyes as it could cause irritation and in some cases people have lost parts of their vision!

Depending on the condition of your regular lashes the lash tech will decide the maximum length and thickness you can go. The longer and stronger your lashes are the thicker and fuller you can get your lashes done!

How Long Does It Take To Apply Eyelash Extensions?

This depends of the following factors; the type of lashes, thickness of the lashes (for example Russians take longer than Hybrids but take longer than Classics) and how experienced your lash tech is. On average it usually takes around two hours to complete a full set of lash extensions and you should go back for a refill / infill every 2 – 4 weeks depending on fast they grow out. However, if you are pushed for time but really want your lashes to look super fluffy and gorgeous you could always go for a half set of lashes. A half set of lashes will still give you insane eyelashes but they won’t be as thick and will save you some coin!

Almond Shaped Eyes

Do I have almond eyes? Almond eyes are a very common eye shape. You have this eye shape if the top and bottom of your iris is slightly covered by the top and bottom lids. If you can see the whole of your iris then you are likely to have round eyes. Another way to see if you have almond eyes is if your eyes are around twice as wide as they are high.

What style of lashes do you recommend? Those with an almond eye shape can pretty much suit any style of lashes. However, we suggest a flared style lash AKA cat eye. This style will elongate those beautiful eyes of yours and open them up to brighten your eyes.

What type of curl? You should opt for a mid-curl that is not too curly or to straight. Choose a C curl for the best lash match.

Round Shaped Eyes

Do I have round eyes? You have round eyes if you can see the whole of your iris and your eyelids do not cover the top or bottom of it. Usually, this shape of eye looks open and bright.

What style of lashes do you recommend? To make sure your eyes don’t look to wide and alert you should opt for a less curly style which has the longest lash lengths towards the mid outer eye. This will enhance your eyes and elongate your eyes more.

What type of curl? We suggest you choose a B curl, this is a looser curl but still looks voluminous.

Hooded Eyes

Do I have hooded eyes? Also known as monolids. You have this eye shape if you have noticed you do have a visible crease. Lash extensions and false eyelashes are perfect for giving your eye more definition and opening those beautiful eyes of yours.

What style of lashes do you recommend? This eye shape suits super curly lashes with the longest lashes placed min to outer eye.

What type of curl? We suggest you opt for D / L / L+ curl as these are the curliest lashes and much more dramatic which will open up your eyes and give you super flirty lashes!

Not sure what is all of these lash tech words mean? Not to worry your lash tech will know exactly what you mean and will explain it to you so you can select the perfect lash styles for you!
