How Long Do Eyelash Extensions Take to Apply?
Eyelash Extensions & Application
Eyelash extensions are all about enhancing those beautiful eyes of yours as they are customised to suit your eyes and face shape as well as creating the desired look you want. Therefore eyelash extensions do take much longer to apply than strip false eyelashes would. This is because eyelash extensions are individual eyelashes that can be applied as a Classic set (one extension to each eyelash) or as Hybrid or Russian / Volume lashes (normally around one – four extensions are formed into a fan and placed on one eyelash). Therefore the time it takes for a full set off eyelash extensions will vary. The fastest set is a Classic set as one extension is applied to one eyelash. However, this does vary on how full your natural eyelashes are. For example, if you have a full set of natural eyelashes, it will take long than if you have sparse eyelashes as one extension needs to be applied to 90% – 99% of your eyelashes. Then comes the Hybrid set (also known as a mixed set), the perfect in-between that is a mixture of classic extensions and volume extensions. Russian / Volume eyelash extensions take the longest due to this set being the fullest as a lot more extensions are used here in comparison to a Classic set or Hybrid set. Typically, eyelash extensions take around 2 hours for a full set and between 30 minutes to 1 hour to apply an infill.
What Classes as a Full Set?
A full set of eyelash extensions is needed if you currently do not have any eyelash extensions and takes up to 2 hours depending on what kind of lashes you want. This will also depend on how full or sparse your natural eyelashes are as well as the health of your lashes. A full set can be of Classic lashes, Hybrid lashes or Russian / Volume lashes. You will also need a full set if you do have eyelash extensions in but you have less than 50% off your eyelash extensions left. Normally, if you keep to getting infills every 2-3 weeks you should not need a full set and instead need just an infill.
What Classes as an Infill?
Different lash artist class what counts as an infill or a full set differently, most artists say clients should have 50% or more extensions left to class as an infill where as some class it as 60% or more. It is always best to check with your artist on what they consider an infill to be as oppose to a full set. We always recommend you book an appointment in good time for an infill as it is quicker to get an infill than a full set and it is also cheaper!
