Volume Fans Eyelash Extensions – The Sticky Strip Method
The Sticky Strip Method
Whether you are new to the world of eyelash extensions are you are a lash technician looking for new techniques you are in the right place! It is all about finding the right technique for you that makes lashing a breeze, like anything in life, what works great for one person doesn’t always work so well with another. We recommend you give all techniques a try so that you can find what really works well for you.
First things first, what is the ‘sticky strip method’?
The sticky strip method is a way of creating fans using volume eyelash extensions. This methods differs from others since you don’t actually pinch the lashes together to create the fan. You can pinch with either a pair of tweezers or your own fingers it just about what work best for you. Oh and guess what, we also have blogs on that! If the sticky strip method doesn’t take your fancy, you may want to check out some other methods you can use to create perfect fans that you can find on our blog page! We treat you well we know! Anyway, without further ado let’s get into how you do the sticky strip method…
Remove the Eyelash Extensions from the Sticky Strip
Grab your eyelash extensions and remove the number of extensions that you will need to create the fan. The extension that you remove will be used to create the fan, remember when it comes to eyelash extensions it is all about customising to suit your client. Some clients may have weak, damaged, thin or sparse natural eyelashes. If this is the case, you do not want to add too much weight to their lashes as this could cause further damage to the client’s real eyelashes and cause premature fall out. If the client’s real eyelashes are thicker, fuller and are strong you can go ahead and make a fuller fan to create a fuller set. You should also keep in mind that the more extensions you use to create a fan, the wider and fuller the fan will be. If you use less the fan will be more narrow and light weight.
Create the Fan on the Sticky Strip
If you haven’t used this method before this is going to sound strange. You will need to place the lashes you have removed from the strip back onto the empty strip space. Grab a pair of precision tweezers and carefully move the extensions back and forth. The purpose of this is to spread out the tips of the extensions and merge the base of the lashes together to for the fan. At first this may seem confusing, however after you have practised a few times and understand what you are doing this might just become your go to method.
Dip the Base into the Lash Adhesive
Once your fan is created and you are happy with it, remove the fan from the sticky strip. Dip the base of the fan into the glue. You should always make sure that you only ever dip the fan into the glue no further than 2 mm deep. It is important that your glue is in date and is not passed it used by date or been open for too long as this will affect how long your client’s extensions last. You should also use a new bottle of adhesive if your glue is cloudy or stringy. To make the most out of your adhesive, you should also always shake the bottle before using it on a client and in-between appointments as well as storing it in a cool dry place.
